Hong Kong legislator Johnny Ng is advocating for the city to become a neutral ground for cryptocurrency amid escalating US-China tech tensions. Ng, a Web3 advocate representing Hong Kong's tech sector, emphasizes the borderless nature of crypto and the city's unique advantages.

"Crypto cannot be easily divided by country or economy. It is one world," Ng stated in a CoinDesk interview. His vision leverages Hong Kong's common law system, open capital flows, and financial infrastructure to attract cross-border crypto activity.

The strategy notably integrates resources from mainland China's Greater Bay Area. Shenzhen's young engineering talent pool complements Hong Kong's legal framework and market access—positioning the region as a collaborative force rather than a competitor in the global crypto race.
